we at CREATE are always exploring the world in search of our next muse. often taking our cues from fashion and decor, we aim to both capture and enhance the images and patterns we see around us. above is an inspiration board where you can see the beginning elements coming together as a final product. we started with color swatches, fashionable stripes and brightly painted fingernails and continued the thought into the invites with color and pattern. everyday inspirations have a profound effect on what we design.

take a ride on the orient express…

coming up may 12th the pittsburgh opera will celebrate its 28th annual maecenas benefit gala. this year’s luxurious theme, the orient express, embodies beauty, intrigue and style. CREATE had the honor and pleasure of working on this lavish invitation with pittsburgh opera’s special events manager, samuel badger. we chose to emulate the theme by creating a boarding pass decorated with artistic representations of the cities the orient express traveled through, then tied everything together with art deco icons, the prevailing school of design during the orient’s height of popularity.

mother nature sure has been gentle this year. with all the sunny days and warm weather, it’s hard not to think about having graduation parties and summer bbqs. CREATE can design the perfect invite for the most formal of summer soirees or casual backyard block parties. the invite above was designed for a high school graduation party. we kept it simple yet elegant to reflect the mood of the celebration.

Savor the Savoy Experience

CREATE had a lot of fun at SAVOY! after a night of overeating, drinking and carousing, it was back to work to design a delicious looking brochure housing a surprise gift card inside.

from celebrities and sports figures to guest dj’s and live music, SAVOY, in the historic strip, is pittsburgh’s premier dining experience. conceived and owned by pittsburgh’s own chuck sanders, SAVOY is sanders’ vision of high-scale establishments common to miami, las vegas, and new york.

tempt your taste buds with SAVOY’s menu. i sampled their famous jumbo lump crab cakes, gourmet chicken and waffles, beef two ways, sliders, bbq baby back ribs and more. i lounged and dined while sipping on a cool, custom SAVOY cocktail made from the finest top shelf liquors.

rolling out red CARpet designs for a cause

car lovers and the mario lemieux foundation came together to “play with a purpose” at the red CARpet gala last thursday. the gala officially opened the 2012 pittsburgh international auto show and at the same time, raised money to benefit austin’s playroom project, an initiative of the mario lemieux foundation.

CREATE was honored to be chosen by event planner, lisa mason, to design the event logo, slick invitation complete with 4 fun-packed inserts, the signage and program.

“A” logo study

do we design custom logos? yes. and in a big, CREATE-ive way. this is a great example of a logo study done for an engaged couple whose first initials were both the letter “a.”

the holidays are the perfect time to reflect on the year that has passed and cherish our closest family and friends. at CREATE, we took to the pages of our custom portfolios and reminisced about our 2011 projects. we have met so many wonderful clients this year and each has shaped the special invitation we created for them.

to line… or not to line…your envelope

just like the groom complements the bride on her wedding day, an envelope liner is the perfect complement to your wedding invitation. adding colorful and graphic liners adds an elegant, finishing touch to your invitation suite. we think envelope liners are a must; even a simple pop of pearlescent paper adds a special, dramatic effect as your invitation is revealed.

3 tips:

1. the envelope liner is the perfect place to introduce your monogram; it adds an extra level of personalization.

2. print a repetitive pattern on your liner with a motif taken from your logo or invitation.

3. or keep the liner simple and understated by using a plain paper liner that matches your wedding invitation.

remember, your wedding invitation sets the tone for your big day. make each and every detail special.
